The wine opens with pretty aromas of violets, lavender and leather that belie the robust, rugged texture and broad, mouth-coating flavors of plum, nutmeg, clove and coffee.
Our 2021 Matchbook Malbec aromatics are a beautiful combination of bright crushed berries, vanilla and saddle leather. Blackberry and raspberry flavors on entry expand to include smokey, earthy, chocolate notes that lead to a touch of baking spice and black pepper on the finish. Soft tannins add a bit of structure that frame the juicy texture of this smooth and elegant wine. The 2022 Tinto Rey Tempranillo exhibits some of the old-world characteristics of earth, plums and saddle leather, a soft texture, dusty tannins, and a long finish.
